Russian Ark
Alexander Sokurov’s film Russian Ark is an incredible filmmaking accomplishment – set in 33 rooms of the Russian State Hermitage Museum with over 2000 actors, the extravagant 90-minute film was shot in one continuous take. “I am sick of editing,” Sokurov said. Since normal 35mm cameras are limited to about 12 minutes of filming, he used a Sony HDW-F900 stedicam specially modified to record to disk rather than tape. Although months of rehearsals were required, the entire film was shot in just 90 minutes. Take a look at the trailer.
